Do U.S. Import Duties Affect My Pet Product Order?Updated 14 days ago

Are U.S. tariffs now applied to all shipments?
Yes. Beginning August 29, 2025, all orders shipped to the United States will be subject to import duties and customs clearance, regardless of value. This change follows updated U.S. tariff regulations that remove the small-parcel duty-free limit.

What happened to the duty-free threshold?
The previous ‘de minimis’ exemption of US$800 has been removed. Every order will now go through customs, and duties may apply.

How will I pay for duties and fees?
To make things simple, Sierra Pet Meds will collect these costs at checkout along with shipping. Your order will ship Delivered Duties Paid (DDP), meaning all charges are prepaid. You should not be asked to pay anything further when your package arrives.
Please note: while rare, Customs can occasionally impose extra fees that are outside our control.

Are pet medications affected by the new tariffs?
We’re actively working with our carriers to confirm how these changes will affect veterinary medications and pet supplies. Our site will be updated as soon as we have the final information.

Will I need to take any action when my parcel arrives?
In some cases, U.S. Customs may request extra processing steps for incoming shipments. If required, we’ll provide clear guidance to help you through the process.

Do I need to worry about these changes?
Not at all—we’re committed to minimising disruption and keeping our customers informed. We’ll continue to update you as soon as new information becomes available.

Are duties and shipping costs refundable if I return my order?
Unfortunately, once shipped, U.S. duties, customs fees, and postage are non-refundable.
Refunds can only be issued if:

  • Your order is cancelled before dispatch (full refund including duties, fees, and postage), or

  • Sierra Pet Meds is responsible for an error (e.g., wrong order or lost parcel).
